Shea's Performing Arts Center anchors the Theater District, one of the largest concentrations of theaters in the United States. Shakespeare in Delaware Park ranks as the nation's second-largest free outdoor Shakespeare festival. Attendance exceeds that of every comparable free festival except the one in New York City, with performances held in the park setting during the summer months.

Museum Growth and Collections

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum, formerly known as the Albright-Knox, reopened in summer 2025 after a nearly four-year, $500 million expansion. The project added gallery space for the museum's modern and contemporary collection, which includes works by Pollock, Picasso and Warhol. The expansion placed the institution on a broader international circuit for rotating exhibitions.
